In Ian's Pan Duo, one other musician joins Ian, and in the Pan Trio, two other musicians join the fun. Together they are supported by skillfully arranged, pre-recorded accompaniment. The Duo and Trio offer similar advantages as Ian's Pan Solo while also creating a musical impact closer to that of the full band. The Duo offers a great balance of economy and the class of a live band, while the sound of Ian Dobson's Pan Trio is almost indistinguishable from that of full Pan Leggo Steelband.

Ian's duo and trio acts use essentially the same arrangements as the standard quartet, just with backing tracks playing some of the band parts.
